RIPTIDE LOSES HEARTBREAKER 4-3 IN TENTH INNING
06/28/08 Lowell, Ma -- Germaine Fairchild took over the head coaching position for the Riptide today and the Thunder gave her a few gifts in the beginning but the Riptide were unable to drive in the winning run when they had the chance and lost in ten innings 4-3. The Thunder started quickly off starter Jocelyn Forest. Kristen Zaleski began with a soft slap into left field. Then, after retiring the next two hitters, Shanna Diller drew a walk. Zaleski the scored on a single to left by Tonya Callahan to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.
THUNDER SQUEAKS PAST RIPTIDE, 2-1
Lowell, Ma -- The New England Riptide and Rockford Thunder met for the third time Friday night with the Thunder prevailing 2-1. It was Erica Beach (0-2) for the Riptide and Allison Kime (2-2) for the Thunder. The score remained scoreless for three and a half innings when Jess Merchant drove a ball over the head of center fielder Kristen Zaleski for a double to drive in Gina Carbonatto who had opened the inning with a single. The Thunder got it right back in top of the fifth on a lead off double by Stephanie Fischer and triple by Audrey Rendon.

Erica Beach made the start in the circle Friday.

RIPTIDE WINS 4-0 BEHIND CANNEY
Lowell, Ma -- The New England Riptide took to the field Thursday night to play their second game against the Rockford Thunder. Eileen Canney (5-4) starter for the Riptide entered the game leading the league in strikeouts and was able to hold the Thunder scoreless for the six innings she pitched while striking out seven to increase her total to 60 as the Riptide won for the second straight time 4-0. Erica Beach came on in the seventh to pick up her first save of the year. Cassidy Scoggins (3-4) started for the Thunder and gave up three runs in 2.2 innings.

After a home run Wednesday night, Jess Merchant hit a towering double after which she scored the first run of the night on Carri Martin's RBI.

RIPTIDE REVERSE LOSING STREAK WITH WIN OVER THUNDER, 5-2
Lowell, Ma -- Jocelyn Forest took the circle tonight hoping to reverse the Riptide fortunes and she did just that as she threw six innings, allowing two runs and four hits in a 5-2 Riptide win. Eileen Canney pitched the seventh and picked up her first save of the year. Serena Settlemier started for the Thunder looking for her first win of the year, but instead picked up her third loss.
